BEREAN MINISTRIES INTERNATIONAL BIBLE CONFERENCE 2017 – FAITHS’ RESPONSE TO INJUSTICE AND SUFFERING

Triumphant greetings to the  Board and Members of Berean Ministries International, Bay Springs, Mississippi. Your large heart was demonstrated so much the more in sponsoring the coming of Prof. Chinyere Onwubiko for this year’s Annual Ministers and Church workers Conference and our Mother’s burial. May our Father in heaven bless you all in return in Christ’s name.
We were not sure of what your pastor would come down with especially because of his mother’s burial. Also, we thought to be asked to shoulder some  responsibility in respect of his mothers burial. It was not so. Rather on the 1st of May, 2017, Prof. Chinyere landed and entered the hall for this years teaching sessions. What a relief to see him come unruffled and unperturbed, but composed with divine serenity exhuming to challenge everyone else.
No sooner than he was introduced on the stage that he shook the entire audience with the subject for this years conference . The audience was thrown into joyous frenzy and almost broke out loud in jubilation for the timely fashion of this eternal lesson. He showed himself a true shepherd of Christ’s flock, giving them food in due season. That is the state of the churches in Nigeria especially. How thankful the beginning of it was even to the end that none missed his rank of coming to take in the grafted word able to save our souls.
He looked as if he is Prophet Habakkuk resurrected to reach us today how he walked with JHVH Elohim to earn the book that bears his name. We were in rapturous attention gulping every line, sentence, and word. Thanks to God. Nigeria, today, is a land of injustice and suffering. He brought the right medicine for our prolonged illness. The problem is everywhere here: in our government, society, ethnicities, religion, laws, judiciary, trade and commerce, in our education, call them what you may. And only the wicked are advantaged seriously calling into question how Omnipotent sees it. At such a time Professor came with divine remedy.
Greatest of all is the clearance correction of the implication of saying God spoke to Elijah, “with a still small voice.”  1Kings 19:12 last part as translated into English from Hebrew by almost all Bibles. But when did God’s voice begin to be small? Seeing that it is written,”When you heard the voice out of the darkness, while the mountains was ablaze with fire, all the leading men of your tribes and elders came to me. And you said, ‘The LORD our God has shown us his glory and his majesty; we have heard his voice from the fire. Today we have seen that a man can live even if he God speaks with him. But now, why should we die? This great fire will consume us, and we will die if we hear the voice of the LORD of our God any longer. For what mortal man has ever heard the voice the Living God speaking out of the fire, as we ; have and survived?'” Debut.5:22-26 NIV. Again, “The voice of the LORD is powerful; the voice of the LORD is majestic. The voice of the LORD breaks the cedars; the LORD breaks the cedars of Lebanon,” Psa.29:4-5 NIV. And the New Testament concurs and elongates the truth. “At that time his voice shook the earth, but now he has promised, ‘Once more I will shake not only the earth but also the heavens,”‘ Heb. 11:26. NIV So the Spirit reminded me as he spoke.
Thus I shook and trembled, often jittery visibly as he kept thundering with expositions. We saw ourselves portrayed in the whole panorama of living in difficult times and apostasy among God’s worshippers and seeing God somewhat silent. What a college education on spiritual matters. All through the five days spellbound we travelled on His Highway of Holiness. Blessed be Berean Ministries International forever.
By Friday May 5th,we were shocked to still see a stockpile of Bibles to be given out. Especially the MAXWELL’S LEADERSHIP BIBLE, which is out of stock in many Bible Selling bookshops nationwide. I called to Ojuelegba, Ajegunle in Lagos, also Edysl Christian Bookshops Lagos, Port Harcourt, Aba Branches, etc., its superb gift. Many of Professors books etc., over 270 went home smiling in Aba, national centre.
On 7th May, saw us at Berean Centre Hall in Peter Ebiogwu Street at Federal Housing Estate in Ogbor Hill, Aba. After observing the Lord’s Supper, Prof. Chinyere proceeded to address us with the subject: AS BELIEVERS WE SHOULD LEARN TO FACE OURSELVES. Taking the way God dealt with Adam and Eve after eating the forbidden fruits he taught us to be straightforward and truthful. That is the only way God can help us. If we rigmarole, God will dig deep into us until like Sarah we must admit, or our Isaac will not be born.
By 12 noon we went to the NGWA ROAD MOTHERLESS BABIES HOME and he gave the a whooping three hundred and eighty four thousand naira cash (#384,000). These pictures are attached.
On Monday May 8th we of Professors company joined to visit the Enugu Chapter of Berean Fellowship for a one day message. In the Church building of VICTORY BIBLE CHURCH AT APOSTLE BUS STOP, EMENE, ENUGU, he spoke on a theme, PERSEVERE IN FAITH. Text, Acts 14:21-22, Instructed us to stand firm in trial because of the glory to come, and that if we are not persecuted by the world, there must be no difference between us and them. Everyone shook and trembled. As he warned us further not to think of godliness as great gain by merchandise, but of the gospel. They simply asked for more but that is it for this time.
Tuesday 9th May was the turn for Ohafia, Abia North Senatorial zone area. His exegesis was extensively on Eph. 4:25 speaking on  FALSEHOOD AND TRUTH. He went on biblically to expose the damage of what lies and falsehood does , and did so in such a manner that it was painful to bear. Though hurting almost everyone hid their faces in shame as it brought us face to face with how God sees us. Two outstanding human effects are that AS MEMBERS OF ONE ANOTHER we dare not ever lie. Just as I thought “Yes, for my hands cannot lie to my legs” for they are members of one another. Also, that those who lie show hatred to those lied to with a Scripture. Prov.26:28 (NIV), “A lying tongue hate those it hurts; and a flattering mouth works ruins.”  Lord have mercy !
On Wednesday. evening he spoke at an ECWA Church in the Umuahia metropolis on the PRIORITY OF STUDYING THE WORD OF GOD, Luke 10:38-42. Religion has produced more activities than the study of the word of God in our life. Martha and Mary are very good examples. Even at the presence of the Lord, Martha was preoccupied with material concerns at the expense of the word of God that Christ was sharing with Mary. How far better are you? The early church showed better sense as they were devoted to the word daily. She even complained to the Lord against her sister who was paying attention to the Lord.
After UMUAHIA was the burial of Prof’s mother on May 13th being Friday. So on Thursday night the May 12th a wake keep was observed for her with a citizenship and leadership trading group which is a paramilitary organization taking on security and lofting the corpse for burial.
On the D Day, 13th  the body was brought in from the mortuary in a convoy and late was opened and her body confined by Prof. and his younger brother and sisters, the mama’s paternal and maternal lineage, Amaba Onwubiko family and taken to the church service ground .The burial service was held in a very large open field opposite CENTURY HOTELS where we had last years Isuikwuato conference. The picture will tell you how well attended it was. Prof. preached, taught, and challenged us buttressing with Mama’s testimony to be sure to make heaven by being sure we are saved now. Led us in the sinners prayer and took off to lay her body in the grave awaiting rapture. Service at the grave was conducted by Rev. Ibekwe.
We give thanks to God that everything went well in all rounds with no sad tales. Just one day after we left Aba town it began to rain cats and dogs. While Prof. was in Aba, no single rainfall intercepted our program. Brethren from Aba who came to Enugu testified. Even so on Tuesday making them come late, even as it rained after we left Ohafia too. Four cows and a ram was slaughtered for guests in the two days of the events. Bibles and Books were given out in Enugu and Ohafia and Isuikwuato. Books were given at UMUAHIA. How great the expenditure made by Berean these days. Workers were all given big cash.
We pray God’s blessing and rewarding the Berean Ministries International, Bay Springs Mississippi, USA. The Church Board and every member and our Pastors and their families.
Your in His Vineyard,
Pastor Peter Chima.
